Description : Striped Ponyfish is ovate and compressed. Its body colour is silvery with irregular vertical streaks. The striped ponyfish (Aurigequula fasciata) is a marine ray-finned fish. Typically inhabiting coastal marine and brackish waters, it prefers depths between 20 to 50 meters (66 to 164 feet). Feeding primarily on smaller fishes, small crustaceans, and polychaete worms, it can grow up to 21 centimeters (8.3 inches) in length, although most individuals are around 17 centimeters (6.7 inches). While it contributes minimally to local commercial fisheries, it plays a role as a predator in its ecosystem.
